Curriculum

The curriculum resource "Handle with Care" used at Camp Talahi, has been carefully selected and is produced by a partnership between the Committee on Outdoor Ministries of the National Council of Churches and the New Earth Publishers, a team of denominational publishing houses.

The curriculum supports Outdoor ministry as a viable and effective means for fulfilling the ministry and mission of the church. Persons are provided with living experiences in “places apart” to explore God’s story, to experience the vitality of Christian community, and to grow in Christian faith. Outdoor ministry helps to bring persons into a deeper relationship with God through Jesus Christ, their neighbor, and creation. Individuals are encouraged to discover who they are and to be responsible members of their communities and the world in which God has placed them.

The theme for this year's camp is "Handle With Care". Campers and staff will consider the biblical mandate to be stewards of creation and will learn specific ways to "Handle with Care."

There is a special bonus section to this years curriculum called "Greening for Outdoor Ministry Facilities". This resources provides policies and practices for camps that wish to be faithful stewards of the portion of creation entrusted to them.
