VISION and Camp Talahi

VISION is sponsoring a Michigan Conference Work Trip to New Orleans from October 12 - 17, 2008.  Twenty vounteers are needed to serve under the direction of Alan Coe for Disaster Recover Work Groups United Church of Christ in New Orleans.

Adult volunteers will gather Sunday evening at St. Matthews United Church of Christ for an orientation session and work will begin on Monday Morning and continue through Friday afternoon.  At least 4 of our volunteers will need to have construction skills to help lead teams of up to 8 in reconstruction/building projects.  Please register on line for this opportunity to bring hope to people who have lost so much due to Hurricane Katrina and the flooding in New Orleans.

The cost will be $250 and will cover the cost of lodging and group meals.  St. Matthews provides air-conditioned accomodations, bunk beds, showers, washers and dryers, as well as, a fully equipped kitchen. 

We will meet together in Michigan for an orientation session prior to departure so that you might meet your companions, ask questions, learn more about the nature of the work you will be doing, and divide tasks (meals, finances, photography, devotions, etc) among participants.  Please contact Marcia Beer if you have any further questions.
